Design your own room with our sexy room ideasSeven Steps to a Sexy Room

part 2: sexy dress-up for sexy interior decorating

Time to play dress-up. No, not that kind of dress-up (back away from the French maid costume… slowly… and stop that, no cheerleader uniform either). Time for your room to slip into something sexy and “a bit more comfortable”, as they say.

While Sexy Room Step One showed us how to manipulate feminine and masculine forms when you design your own room, the next four steps cover sexy room ideas of the more overt, tactile persuasion.

SEXY ROOM STEP 2: TRY ON A LBD

If you're a woman, chances are you have a sexy little black dress hanging in your closet. You know the power of that dress and how it makes you feel from the moment it slides on over your skin. Ditto for your sexy bedroom design or living room decorating, though the LBD in this case is actually a LBL: A little black lacquer. It doesn't have to be a big piece of contemporary furniture to make a sexy statement. It could be a flirty little side table or an upholstered chair with lacquered legs. In fact, just like the LBD in your closet, it doesn't even have to be black. Consider a lacquered piece in brilliant vermillion, apple green, gold, silver, or any juicy color that flicks your bic. Shiny lacquer is just simply a sexy room idea.

SEXY ROOM STEP 3: SLIP INTO SOMETHING SHEER

Two words. Sheer lingerie. Got your visual? Not frilly, not lacey, not wrapped up in bows. Just grown-up sheer. Dress your windows in simple, transparent drapery that billows with the wind, hangs straight and breaks at the floor. For sexy interior design, get every image you have of a swag, jabot or cascade out of your mind. Forever.

SEXY ROOM STEP 4: MAKE A PATENT STATEMENT

Patent leather. Special on your Sunday school Mary Janes, drop dead gorgeous when used as upholstery on a chair or ottoman. Known to incite heavenly activities not covered in Sunday school.

Take a look at the oh-so-sexy Odeon Side Chair from Duane Modern that we feature in the Virtual Room Planner™ on our home page. Between the patent leather upholstery, swanky silhouette and stiletto sleek front legs, this fantastic piece really hits the mark. If you're seriously looking for sexy bedroom design ideas, just picture your favorite silky robe draped over this chair. Ditto for sexy living room decorating ideas. (Really though, wouldn't any article of clothing do?)

If you don't care for black, patent leather now comes in every color of the rainbow. And it is sumptuous. Any color, any size. Put it anywhere when you design your own room. Patent leather works.

SEXY ROOM STEP 5: GET TOUCHY FEELY

Sink your toes into a deeply, plush, soft rug. Nuzzle your cheek against an ultra suede sofa, a velvet chair or a mohair ottoman. Slide a faux fur throw down your arm—and back up again. Go ahead, slide it down your leg, too. It all feels good. Really good. So, here's the question to ask yourself about all your upholstered pieces, flooring, pillows, etc. Does it feel good naked? Not necessarily because you'll be naked on it. But if you were, what would it feel like? Slide it against your skin. You want every major item in your room to give you a good squirm.
