part one: sexy shapes for sexy room ideas

Yep. Tonight's the night. You've even pulled out the Holy Trinity Of Romance: sexy candles, essential oil in the diffuser, and soul-stirring music. After all, millions of us searching for sexy room ideas know… the big T works!

Now, consider this: Wouldn't it be great if you didn't have to set the stage for moments, but rather your room set it for you, 24/7? Imagine, living in a space that allowed you to express your most authentic sensuality as the norm, rather than the exception. Surprisingly, the secret to sexy interior decorating ideas when you design your own room is simple: It's hidden in your innate knowledge regarding some basic truths about men and women.

You see, when it comes to sexy room ideas, it's all about recognizing the physical form of a man and a woman and then creating through tactile expression. For instance, when you touch something, it sets off a host of sensations and emotions, whether it be through contact with a smooth rock, a velvety plush throw or your lover's skin. Keep this in mind as you peruse bedroom design ideas and living room decorating ideas when you design your own room.

SEXY ROOM STEP 1: GET CURVY AND KEEP IT STRAIGHT

Let's look at a woman's body. Mmm, curvy. Now a man's body. Hmm, straight. So, what does that have to do with your living room or bedroom design? Lots. Especially when you're talking about furniture design and furniture arrangement ideas.

Sexy interior design takes the feminine curvilinear and juxtaposes it against the masculine linear. By doing so, the form of each is emphasized, much like placing a man and a woman next to each other. We can do this with architecture, decorative motifs, one piece of furniture vs. another, or even within the same piece of furniture.

Christopher Guy cocktail table - A great sexy room design idea
Sexy, hand-carved Christopher Guy coffee table

Let's use a cocktail table from our Virtual Room Planner™ concept board on our home page as an example. This gorgeous black lacquer piece, by Christopher Guy, uses S-curves and C-curves juxtaposed to its very linear table top. Edgy, elegant, seriously sexy.

Now, place that cocktail table against a very linear sofa with squared off arms, back and legs. You've just upped your sexy quotient. You could take it one step further by tufting the back of the sofa, as we did on our Virtual Room Planner™ concept board, again using the feminine curvilinear of the tufting against the masculine linear seat cushion.

So, we have the masculine/feminine forms of our sofa and coffee table sexily sitting together in our room. Let's finish this vignette by placing a round (feminine, curvilinear) side table next to your very linear (masculine) sofa. Since the sofa is such a large linear piece, a table leg with a flippy little C-curve at the foot would tie in nicely with our cocktail table base.

Now that we've got the concepts of sexy furniture shapes and furniture arrangement down, let's play dress-up with the next four steps. What sexy room interior doesn't need some whisper-sheer sexy lingerie and a little black dress?
